Something big and beautiful happened for me recently. I attended Lillie's 'Free Your Voice' workshop and was cracked open from the inside out. I touched, explored, and deepened into my deepest wounds and desires.

Within Lillie's container, I stood in a circle of about ten total humans. As they sounded a simple tone together, I closed my eyes, turned off my mind, held my heart, and allowed my innerness to vocalize itself in a way which was separate and distinct from the group. There were no words, just tone and sound.

As I came back down to earth, I noticed my body was quivering, shaking, vibrating and recalibrating.I felt just how deeply I was being received and held by the group, and then the tears came. Lillie reminded me that my tears are welcome in this container. I was amazed at the way my body held a childhood memory, and how this unfinished situation had been internalized, manifesting itself into my adulthood.

After sharing myself for the first time in circle, Lillie invited me to share myself again. This time, I stood in the middle of circle, and as the group circled in closely around me, I invited them to touch me if they felt called to do so. One man took it up on himself to set the tone for the sound the group would hold in unison. As he did, I closed my eyes again and found my unique noise. This time, I dug deeper and vocalized louder.

Something moved me.
Something shifted me.
Something opened me.

Today, I was gifted, and gifted myself, the opportunity to revisit a fragmented memory and free myself from the falseness. Now, I am free to decide for myself whether I am worthy on my own. Of course I am.

“I started learning guitar with Lillie a short year ago. I’m not 15. I’m not 30. I’m forty seven years of age. I’ve always wanted to learn to play guitar, but never made creativity/fun a priority in my life. When I started, I felt like it would take forever to learn even a song that I liked as was intimidated. But to my surprise, Lillie was not what I expected. And guitar lessons with Lillie were completely opposite of what I expected. I had no idea that the simple act of learning music could open a person up in ways unimaginable. The healing, the light and the love I have felt during this whole process are all immeasurable. But I could have easily been discouraged in week two. But Lillie is this bright magical being that makes you believe you can trust yourself and carve a path of fun. Fun.

I’m almost at our one year anniversary and I have a book now, a book, of songs that mean a great deal to me. They all show a journey, not just of learning about guitar, but a learning about myself. This is now a skill that continues to develop and grow and blossom. In addition to my personal growth, my music lessons have allowed me to interact in an incredibly unique way with my children. We sing together, play together and even create songs together. These moments are, as I said, immeasurably precious.

Lillie’s guitar skill and angelic voice are brilliant without question. Anyone can hear her light a mile away.  But it’s Lillie’s unique guidance to reach within and gently pull out ability inside of you that kept me wanting to learn. She’s patient and encouraging, wise and present. She knows where and how to gently nudge you to accomplish feats you you do not believe you can, inside and out.
